Exotic Purple

The first time I remember using purple in a design project was in 2006. My client was buiding a new home. As part of the home's paint color selections, I chose a medium tone muted purple with gray undertones for her little girl's bathroom. The bathroom was all white and gray carerra marble...gorgeous. Then, in 2008, Nancy and I used a smokey lavender for another client's master bedroom walls. We paired it with dark chocolate silk drapery.

Back then, it was a challenge to convince clients to use purple in their decor. This year, purple is everywhere. In recent design projects, we have included touches of smokey sheer gray lavender to the boldest of deep dark periwinkle paired with black. Our design work table right now is covered with fabrics in the most fabulous shades of purple. Some people believe that the color purple represents royalty, luxury, magic, mystery and passion.
