Material Girl

Desperately Seeking Susan starring Madonna may not be Oscar worthy but I love it. It is one of those movies that captures a place and time perfectly. My first trip to New York City was in 1985 amidst the Madonna mania and before Times Square resembled Disney World. Every girl looked like Madonna, black jelly bracelets, lace, leggings, frosted hair. I remember the feeling of the city, the energy. It was young, hard edge and all inspiring.

I love this last image of Madonna on the french settee just sitting out on the concrete of the city street with legs crossed, wearing gloves and long strands of pearls.
